I am a Hupa language activist, creative writer, multimedia artist, and linguist. I come from the Tsnungwe village of Łe:lding in Northern California. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Linguistics at UC Berkeley.

My name is Muriel Xosa:k’ Ammon. I am from Łe:lding. I am Tsnungwe. My dad is Danny Ammon and my mom is Cassie Nordstand. I have a little sister names Cecilia and a little brother named Gabel.

I attended to Dartmouth College, where I studied Native American Studies and Linguistics. Now, I work for Heyday Books. I’m twenty six years old, now a woman.

I really love to speak Hupa language. My dad teaches me how to speak. He is a good speaker. I use my language to make songs and stories, because it makes me happy.
